Male Birth Control Will Be Available In 2017

Couples Sex

Vasalgel, a non-hormonal male birth control, should be on the market by 2017 [via Daily Beast].

Developed by the Parsemus Foundation, the product works by injecting a polymer into the vas deferens, blocking sperm in pretty much the same way a vasectomy would.

A single injection would last for a while, and men could unblock their pipes whenever they need to with another injection. Best of all, unlike most forms of female birth control, it won't affect their hormones.

The Parsemus Foundation most recently tested Vasalgel on baboons, and

the results were promising.

However, they're worried a low-cost form of birth control that only requires treatment a handful of times a year will be met with resistance from the billion-dollar female birth control industry.

Dudes: You have until 2017 to get comfortable with the idea of getting injections in your genitals.
