Two Brothers, Woman Shot Dead In Surulere

About a week after a DJ was gunned down on Bank Olemoh street in Surulere, yet another gang related killing has occurred in the Shitta/Akerele area of Surulere.

Two brothers (pictured above) were shot dead around 8pm last night as they hung out with friends at a bar not to far from Shitta Primary School near Ogunmola street.

A woman was unfortunately hit by a stray bullet during the attack. She was pronounced dead at the hospital she was rushed to.

The dead brothers were not older than 25 years old. Policemen were called to the area last night but no arrest has so far been made.

Reacting to the thick rumour that went viral across the country on Thursday, that the governor had passed on, Ugwuoke stated that Chime was very much alive.

He said the news was unfounded as “the Governor is hale and hearty.”

A US rap star received an X-rated welcome mid-way through one of his music performances – when a female fan gave him oral sex.

Rapper Danny Brown was in the middle of a song as he approached the screaming crowds at one of his tour events in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

But in full view of shocked concert-goers one devoted fan yanked down Brown’s pants.She began to perform a sex act on the 32-year-old star who astonishingly continued to rap for his audience.

Angry band mate Kitty Pryde, touring with Brown, slammed the girl who performed the quickie sex act, claiming she assaulted the hip-hop star.

She blasted: “I'm mad that a person thought it was a good idea to perform a sex act on another person without their consent.

“It's obvious that the reason nobody cares is because a girl did it to a boy.

“Everyone wants the option of blaming it on Danny, because people can't accept the fact that a white girl raped a black dude in front of a bunch of people.

”But the hip-hop artist appeared to find it a little funnier than his band mate when he tweeted fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar.

After Lamar tweeted Brown: “u really just got the head on stage stanny???", Brown replied: “and didn't miss one bar bruh bruh.”The rapper has since deleted his tweet

9,660 Tested HIV Positive In Lagos Alone Within One Year

The Lagos State Government, yesterday. disclosed that 9, 660 residents of the state tested positive to HIV virus of the 102,279 patients examined in the last one year.

The government also said 431 healthcare facilities across the state would be shut for contravening the state healthcare standards.
The state government, however, said it was impossible to  guarantee total free healthcare services for the over 18 million residents of the state, noting: “There is no adequate fund to provide the services.”

Recently, Project Alert, a non-governmental women's rights organization, has been getting calls from people all over Nigeria reporting rape and asking them what to do. The organization decided to write an article that can guide people on what they can do in case of rape. See the article below...

“My friend just got raped by her tutorial coach, what do we do?”

“I was raped by my neighbour, I told my mother but she refused to believe me. What do I do?”“My daughter was raped so I shaved her hair and beat her up so that it won’t repeat itself and no rapist will be attracted to her”These reports are just less than 1% of the cases we have to deal with everyday on issues concerning rape. From our experience we have realized that many people are still ignorant about what to do in a rape situation. People say there is a rape epidemic in Nigeria but the reality is that rape has always lived with us since time immemorial; we are only witnessing an increase in the reporting of rape cases. Most families like to keep it covered up and let abusers go free which has resulted to more rape by the same abuser. How can you explain a case of a Father who raped all his daughters and went on to rape his 15month old granddaughter? If such a man was apprehended when he committed the first act, his other daughters, granddaughter and other undisclosed girls would not have fallen victim. When it happens in our neighbourhoods the response people give are usually “if na me eh, person go die this night, if na me eh, I go cut his thing, if na my sister eh, the thing wey I go do, I never know am.” Before you think we made this up, this was the exact response we got when a 10 year old was raped in her neighbourhood.

All hands are on deck to end this menace, more victims are summoning courage to speak up but it is not enough. If every Nigerian knows what to do in case of rape, we would have less rape incidence, less unwanted pregnancies and a decrease in the number of people with HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI).

It’s normal to see people reading this who would say, “Tufiakwa! God Forbid! It is not my portion! Back to Sender!” no one ever wishes for rape but in case it happens around you this is what you should do:·         

Emotional Support: Victims must realize and be reassured that the rape was not their fault. Give a listening ear to the victim and don’t blame them, punish them or accuse them of lying.·        

 Preserve The Evidence: Do not shower, wash the clothes and underwear, brush your teeth, drink anything, eat, wash your hands, douche or urinate until after you have had a medical examination. Doing any of the above will destroy evidence (things that your attacker may have left behind, such as fibers, hairs, saliva or semen). Save all of the clothing you were wearing at the time of the assault. Place each item of clothing in a separate paper bag. Do not use plastic bags because the heat in them may destroy your evidence like semen. Do not clean or disturb anything in the area where the assault occurred. This will be hard because victims want to shower and feel refreshed but it will help you get justice.·         

Get Medical Examination: this is very important and must be done in a Government hospital. Only government hospital reports are admissible in court. Victim must be given access to Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) to prevent HIV infection and this should be taken within 48 hours and is available at every government hospital.Morning after Emergency Contraceptive can be prescribed to greatly decrease the chance of pregnancy. Take a change of clothes to the hospital because they will need to keep the clothes and underwear worn during the assault for evidence.·         

Report to the Nearest Police Station: Reporting to the police is crucial in the quest to get justice and keep the abuser behind bars. Every time we lock up a rapist, we're preventing him or her from committing another attack. It's the most effective tool that exists to prevent future rapes. Victims should go to the police in the company of a trusted family member or friend. ·         

Get professional counselling for the victim. Counselling is the first step to recovery and victims need that to heal and transition successfully. Presidency Insists First Lady Is In Good Health

The Presidency has refuted allegations that the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, was dropped from a State visit delegation to Namiba and South Africa due to ill health. The Special Assistant (Media) to the First Lady, Ayo Osinlu, said this is a statement released on Tuesday. 

“This morning, we woke up to the latest in the series of deliberate efforts by Sahara Reporters, both to mislead the innocent public and demonize the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame (Dr.) Patience Goodluck Jonathan. 

“This time, it is about the First Lady being “dropped from President Jonathan’s upcoming official visit to Namibia and South Africa” for, according to their evil imagination, reasons of “deteriorated” health,” the statement by Mr. Osinlu said. The First lady’s spokesperson claimed the “report is absolutely untrue and a creation of the wicked expectations of Sahara Reporters and those who pay their bills”. 

According to Mr. Osinlu, for the avoidance of doubt, “the First Lady is not an official of the Federal Government of Nigeria, and is therefore not under obligation to join every foreign trip made by her husband, in perfect expression of his statutory duty to foster both bi-lateral and multi-lateral advantages for the country”. 

He also said that the First Family is at liberty to determine what trips they make together. Part of the statement reads: ”The mischief behind this online medium’s sudden worry that the First Lady is not on the President’s trip abroad is betrayed by the fact that the same medium led its allied choristers to belly-ache in the past about the frequency of her presence by her husband’s side on official engagements outside the country. 

“The question therefore is, what exactly does Sahara Reporters and its sponsors want?” Mr. Osinlu said “the First Lady effectively participated in the tasking National Conference on 100 years of the Nigerian Woman, which she hosted as a component of the Centenary Celebration of the country in Lagos, April 18-19, 2013.” 

“Those who attended or watched the event on live television (NTA and AIT) will confirm that we saw a healthy and active First Lady in attendance during the Conference. “Only last Friday, she also presided at the Official Commissioning of the Nigerian Prisons Staff School, built in the Federal Capital by the Prisons Officers’ Wives Association (PROWA). Media reports of the event were still trickling as at yesterday.

 “Meanwhile, the First Lady is also billed to be the Keynote Speaker at a Religious, Traditional and Adolescents Leaders Conference, as part of the launching of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Teenage Pregnancy in Sierra Leone next week. Her preparation for this is well advanced.

 “It certainly does not appear that someone with this sort of schedule is suffering deteriorating health or has been under close medical observation. “We are however grateful to the “medical gurus” at Sahara Reporters, whose original diagnosis that the First Lady was experiencing a “terminal ailment” has now improved to one that “may be manageable

Stella Damasus Suspected of Infidelity Leading to Her Hubby's Death?

I've received different messages on this controversial issue in the past but I ignored them because too many names were mentioned and most of them are popular people that you would expect wont do such. However, the matter was brought to the fore again recently.
As soon as news broke that Actress Stella Damasus got married to Deniel Ademinokan outside the shores of Nigeria, the matter surfaced again. But this time from insiders also...

The gist is too dirty so we'll try to "refine" it and just take only the side of relatives of the late Jaiye Aboderin. Our source said it is strongly believed that Stella was cheating on him with "some actors" and that a member of the family even "saw" something. This, it is alleged, contributed to the heart problem that killed her first husband.

Terry G Beats Up AY Dot Com

Although the both parties mentioned do not enjoy the best of relationship for some years now, no one knew it would degenerate into a rofo rofo fight years after, until they finally engaged each other in a severe boxing match recently that finally earned AY a serious head but from ‘Terry the Ginja’ .

For the purpose of those who may not have understood the whole story, let us revert to the beginning of the matter.
In 2009, AY Dot come launched an attack on Terry G and warned him to stop performing his song, “Pass Me Your Love” in shows. The song which featured Terry and was also produced by him turned out to be a monster hit single later became the subject of a misunderstanding between the two parties over the years.
While Terry on his part claims he has the right of performing the song since it was a duet that featured him, AY Dot Come maintained it was never going to happen while he lives.
Meanwhile, AY on several occasions lamented of how Terry G went about collecting money on his behalf to perform the song without his consent.
Now from the story, you can see it was an age long animosity which finally turned out into a free for all fight, where blows were exchanged; several bottles broken, people injured, trying to separate the fight. Fast forward to what happened at Terry G’s Iju home on his birthday.
An eyewitness said, ‘AY came in the company of some friends as a sign of solidarity to celebrate with the ‘Intellectual Mad Man’ on his birthday and upon sighting him, Terry G Immediately threw caution to the wind and all the madness in him was let lose, as he punched AY severally and landed him an head butt.

AY upon being rescued reached out for the next available weapon but was immediately intercepted by friends and colleagues. At this point the party was already thrown into a halt, while Terry G insisted that Ay disappears from his house before something worse happens. AY was immediately seen to the gate of the compound with bruises all over his body.
Neither Terry G nor AY was available to give their reaction on the story, as their both numbers were switched off as at the time of filing in this report.

You should always hold your baby in a position that won’t leave your arms or back sore. It worksthe best to support the back of your baby’s headwith your hand, although which position you choosedepends on what’s more comfortable to you. 

When supporting your baby, a nursing pillow can sometimes be a big help. You should never feed until both you and your baby are comfortable. Payattention to how your breasts feel when your babylatches on, as his mouth should cover most of theareola below the nipple, and the nipple should befar back into your baby’s mouth.

While some women adjust to breast feeding easily,other moms find it hard to learn. If you feel discouraged, always know that you aren’t the onlyone. Everyone feels different when starting, itall depends on the mother and the situation.

Breast feeding will take practice. Therefore, youshould give yourself as much time as you need toget it down to second nature. Always take it onefeeding at a time. If you are having a bad day,tell yourself that it’ll get better. Keep in mindthat any problems are temporary, as you’ll be nursing like a pro by your six week postpartum checkup.

The first six weeks will be both an adventure andtraining. You can’t expect to know everything whenyou begin, which is where training and practice willreally help you excel. The more you breast feed,the more you’ll learn. You’ll also build a bondwith your baby – which is something you’ll alwayshave for the rest of your lives.

Asked if her marriage has indeed collapsed she said: “It is not true. We are still married, but I have already told you we have challenges and we are working around those challenges.”
