UNIBEN Prof announces NEW cure for HIV/AIDS

Benin – Prof. Isaiah Ibeh of the University of Benin, on Tuesday announced the development of a new drug that can allegedly ‘cure’ HIV and AIDS. Ibeh, who is the Dean of the School of Basic Medical Sciences of the university, told reporters in Benin that the herbal drug had undergone “series of successful tests”.
He said “We are at the threshold of making history, in the sense that we seem to have with us something that will permanently take care of what over time seems to have defied all solutions. “We are talking about the latest discovery of an oral drug made from plants extraction in Nigeria for the possible cure of the pandemic, HIV and AIDS virus.’’
According to him, research on the project was started in 2010 and culminated in the development of “Deconcotion X (DX)–Liquid or Bioclean 11 for the cure of HIV and AIDS”. “The existing retroviral drugs are intervention drugs for the management of AIDS but our new discovery is a possible cure.

“We have tried to look at the product first; its toxicological analysis and discovered that it has a large safety margin. “This means that if animals or human beings are exposed to it, they will not suffer any serious harm at all from the exposure. “It also helped us to know the quantity we can conveniently give to animals and will feel secure that nothing untoward will happen.
“We have also done the bacteriological analysis on it, after which we looked at its effect on the virus and the result was quite revealing and refreshing.” Ibeh also said that the drug had been exposed to series of medical examination both in Nigeria and in the USA. He added that the drug had performed well on patients with the HIV virus and had shown evidence of total restoration of damaged tissues.
“The result showed an increase in the body weight of the individual administered with DX. “The body weight was statistically significant when compared with the control group.” He said that further tests were being conducted to determine “at what point will a patient become negative after being administered the drug?”.
“This verification is necessary because it is what is used to measure whether infection is still there or not. So we need to know the siro-convention time. “But preliminary results showed that of the five latest patients orally administered with the drugs, our findings is that up to seven months , three of them were siro negative while two were sill faintly positive.’’ Ibeh appealed for support from the Federal Government and relevant bodies to assist the university with relevant equipment to sustain the research.(NAN)

Dating married men can be juicy – Amaka Anioji

From Vanguard Newspaper
Despite her nine years stunt in the industry, Amaka Anioji cannot be described as a popular face in Nollywood  mainly because of her  inconsistency .  But last year, she took many by surprise when she won the Most Outstanding Actress award  at the 9th edition of the Abuja international film festival, beating  established actresses like Ini Edo, Funke Akindele, Nse Etim-Ikpe, Uche Jombo among others. In this interview, she  speaks on a number of  issues concerning her personal life, career  and her role in the award winning short film, “ Till Death Do Us Part” which shot her into the limelight.
What is the big deal about  the movie,’Till Death Do Us Part’?
It  is a 15-minute film that was nominated for an award.
Role played in the movie.
I was the female lead. I played the role of a woman who was beaten and battered by her  husband.
Is this the first movie you are playing lead?
No, this is not the first movie I played the lead character. I have played lead in several movies such as ‘Young Heritage’, and ‘Broken’ that will soon be released. I also played lead in ‘Married,in ‘Close Friends, Game Player in ‘Tinsel’.
When did you join the industry?
I joined the industry in 2004, but I later disappeared and reappeared  in 2006, when I landed a role in a new movie. I finally returned in 2010 and since then,  I have been consistent.
*Amaka
*Amaka
Among all the films you have featured in, which do you consider most challenging?
I think the most challenging is, ‘Till Death Do us Part’ because it is a short feature film.I have to go through many emotions at the same time. It was really a lot of work for me. I think it is very challenging as well as exciting such that people talked about it.
Did  your acting as a battered wife affects your attitude towards life ?
It  has nothing to do with my true life situation, after all, I am not married yet. And I have been lucky with my relationships. I think what happened in the movie was what the script spoke to me. When I was called by the director, Tope Ogun, who  once  directed me on the set of Tinsel.
She called me and said ‘Amaka, I want you to play the lead role in the movie. I used to be crazy about her as a director before she got married.Later,  she  sent  the script  and asked me to go through it and tell her what I think about it. But while reading through the script, I started crying because, it was really emotional. However, after going through the script,  I informed that I would be interested to be part of the movie.
What is outstanding about you?
I think understanding the role I am going to play at any point in time is the secret behind that. Because every story and  role is very unique and being able to understand those differences is what I feel is outstanding. Because when I was playing a Doctor in Tinsel is different from when I  played a battered wife.
The same thing was applicable to  the much loved wife as Allen in Married. As a matter of fact, I have some respects for the roles I played  in movies because I see them as individuals. I tried to understand them, who they are and what they are really about. I take my time to communicate to  myself.
After acting a particular role, it will take some people days to get off the  character, does it happen to you?
Yes,  of course, it happened to me in ‘’Till Death Do Us Part.’ That’s why I said it was very challenging. When we were shooting  the movie, the atmosphere was very moody. So, after a period of time, I was so frustrated, feeling so much like the role I played in the movie.
After sometime, I sat on a place and I couldn't talk to anybody. I was crying. Even when I was not crying, tears were still running down my cheeks.  I was really feeling that bad. Just like when you have  to play the happy role, you will be happy throughout.
Amaka-2
Did you work on your boobs?
No I didn’t. I have  natural nice breasts. And when it goes down with age, I will let it go like that.  I am not going to work on anything. I will age gracefully. So, I do not have problem with that.
What a bout your hair?
I actually wear a bright hair style. I can experiment on my hair because I like doing that.
So  who is the man?
Let us not talk about the man. He is not interested in this talk. Let us just  leave the man out of  this. I cannot have my relationship on the pages of newspaper, it is so annoying. I lost a relationship that means a  lot to me some couple of years ago. We misunderstood ourselves and we went so far as if there was no room for reconciliation.
After sometime, I sat down and pondered over what happened between us and discovered that it was something we could have settled amicably. Really, that relationship meant a lot to me. Each time, I remember how compatible  we were then, I feel bad. I still miss my ex… But that’s is a forgone issue, I still count myself as being lucky because life has to go on.
Can you date a married man?
Well, it is frustrating. It can be tempting sometimes when you meet married men who are really very charming especially, when you have dated a single guy who is very annoying. You run into a married man who is good looking and experienced, you would be tempted to fall in love with him.
But for me, I will always think of how dating a married man will affect people’s perception about me.  After-all, I am not going to marry the person but I’m more concerned about what people are going to say.   I also considered how that thing will affect my relationship with God. Though it can be very juicy, I consider all that. I like to work and earn my living,  it gives me joy.
Would you  do a toy boy?
wouldn't. I cannot have a toy boy. But I will have a valued friend.
There  are so many people in Nollywood who sleep their  ways to the top, what do you have to say about that?
I don’t have much to say about that because it is common everywhere, people sleeping their way to get what they want. They  sleep their way to become Executive Assistants and Managing Directors of blue chip companies.  It is not only in Nollywood that such things happen.

“One of the undergraduates, Hope Olusegun, a 25 year-old from Okene in Kogi State, and claims to be a student of Computer Science at the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University, Malaysia. He was arrested by operatives of EFCC over allegations of fraud and internet scam.

A search conducted by EFCC operatives at Olusegun’ s apartment led to the recovery of several items such as laptops, iPad phones, traveling documents, cheque books, flash drives, internet modem, and three exotic cars – a Mercedes Benz Jeep, One 4Matic Mercedes Benz Car and a Range Rover Sport SUV. When asked how he came about the cars, Olusegun said the cars belonged to his sister who he claimed lives in the United Kingdom. Operatives of the EFCC also downloaded over 80 implicating documents from the laptops recovered from Olusegun.

However, the Commission is making effort to track down other members of Olusegun’s syndicate who are currently at large. Tunde Wasiu Sodiq, another undergraduate and member of another syndicate with close affinity to Olusegun’s gang was also nabbed by operatives of the EFCC at the Housing Estate.

Tunde Sodiq claimed the Range Rover Sport car which was recovered from them belonged to his mother but the personalized number plate bears his nickname – “T.Wizzle”. In his statement, he claimed his mother “decided to customize the car plate number after the name of her first son."

The suspects will be arraigned in court soon.

Man vs. Woman - Human Brain Analysis: who is smarter

Human Brain Analysis - Man vs. Woman......A MUST READ!

1. MULTI-TASKING
Women - Multiple process
Womens brains designed to concentrate multiple task at a time.
Women can Watch a TV and Talk over phone and cook.
Men - Single Process
Mens brains designed to concentrate only one work at a time. Men can not watch TV and talk over the phone at the same time. they stop the TV while Talking. They can either watch TV or talk over the phone or cook.

2. LANGUAGE
Women can easily learn many languages. But can not find solutions to problems. Men can not easily learn languages, they can easily solve problems. That's why in average a 3 years old girl has three times higher vocabulary than a 3 yeard old boy.

3. ANALYTICAL SKILLS
Mens brains has a lot of space for handling the analytical process. They can analyze and find the solution for a process and design a map of a building easily. But If a complex map is viewed by women, they can not understand it. Women can not understand the details of a map easily, For them it is just a dump of lines on a paper.

4. CAR DRIVING.
While driving a car, mans analytical spaces are used in his brain. He can drive a car fastly. If he sees an object at long distance, immediately his brain classifies the object (bus or van or car) direction and speed of the object and he drives accordingly. Where woman take a long time to recognize the object direction/ speed. Mans single process mind stops the audio in the car (if any), then concentrates only on driving.

5. LYING
When men lie to women face to face, they get caught easily. Womans super natural brain observes facial expression 70%, body language 20% and words coming from the mouth 10%. Mens brain does not have this. Women easily lie to men face to face.
So guys, do not lie face to face.

6. PROBLEMS SOLVING
If a man have a lot of problems, his brain clearly classifies the problems and puts them in individual rooms in the brain and then finds the solution one by one. You can see many guys looking at the sky for a long time. If a woman has a lot of problems, her brain can not classify the problems. she wants some one to hear that. After telling everything to a person she goes happily to bed. She does not worry about the problems being solved or not.

7. WHAT THEY WANT
Men want status, success, solutions, big process, etc... But Women want relationship, friends, family, etc...

8. UNHAPPINESS
If women are unhappy with their relations, they can not concentrate on their work. If men are unhappy with their work, they can not concentrate on the relations.

9. SPEECH
Women use indirect language in speech. But Men use direct language.

10. HANDLING EMOTION
Women talk a lot without thinking. Men act a lot without thinking.

King Sunny Ade's Ex-Guitarist Arrested at Airport For Drug Trafficking

Fatoke Abiodun, Nigeria’s veteran guitarist, who played alongside legendary musician, King Sunny Ade for three decades, has been arrested with cocaine, the anti-drug agency said on Saturday.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said that Abiodun was arrested on 1 January while attempting to board an Air France flight to Italy at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, southwest Nigeria.
Fatoke-abiodun
“We have made the first arrest in the new year. The suspect, a guitarist by name Fatoke Abiodun was found with 1.575kg of cocaine. The drug was discovered in the false bottom of his luggage during the outward screening of passengers to Italy,” said ,NDLEA Commander the Lagos Airport, Mr Hamza Umar
The agency said the 62-year old grandfather with four wives and many children, is helping narcotic investigators handling the case.

“Fatoke has owned up to the alleged crime blaming his involvement on financial hardship,” said the agency’s spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju.

NDLEA quoted Fatoke as saying: “I played for King Sunny Ade for 30 years before I was unceremoniously retired in 2007. I was unprepared and without severance money I saw the bitter side of life.”

He said his drug trafficking attempt is his first as he did it out of frustration.

“Because at my age I could not provide for my family. I am ashamed of myself,” he was quoted as saying.

NDLEA Chairman, Ahmadu Giade described the involvement of Fatoke in drug trafficking as sad and disappointing.

“It is sad and disappointing for a grandfather to be involved in drug trafficking. This is a bad legacy to his children. This is a good start for the agency in the year and a sign that the days ahead will be tough for drug traffickers. The agency will continue to handle every case in accordance with the NDLEA Act,” Giade was quoted as saying.

The suspect will be charged to court for unlawful exportation and possession of narcotics, NDLEA said.

This is what reckless lifestyle will push you into. What in the world is he doing with 4 wives?

Confessions of An Assassin: ‘How we killed Kano lawmakers for N40,000′

To a self-confessed assassin in Kano State, the lives of two lawmakers are not worth more than N40,000.
That is the amount he and his colleagues were allegedly paid by their suspected sponsor to assassinate Hon. Ibrahim Abba Garko and Hon Isa Kademi, both members of Kano State House of Assembly.
The money was said to have even been paid in two installments of N20,000 each.
Garko was killed on  November 17, 2012 by gunmen operating on motor bike in front of his house located at Yanáwaki Ungwa-Uku General Area while Kademi fell to the assassins bullets on December 14 in front of his guest house situated at Hotoro Maradun during the evening rush  hour.
Until their assassination, Garko, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), represented Garko local government in parliament whereas Kademi, of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), was a three-time chairman of Gaya local government and a former chairman of Association of Local Governments in Kano State.
Sunday Vanguard exclusively obtained the interrogation tape of the professional dyer-turned- self-confessed assassin, Ibrahim Lawal, in which he claimed to have been  a member of the gang that murdered the two lawmakers and named one Alhaji Sale Kura, a PDP chieftain, as their sponsor.
IGP, M D Abubakar
IGP, M D Abubakar
Kano State Police Commissioner, Mr  Ibrahim Idris, had, on Wednesday, paraded Lawal and Sale in connection with the assassination. Both of them, however, denied afterwards, their involvement in both killings to journalists.
“I am not a member of Boko Haram. I am a hired assassin and armed robber. We operated in a group of six and all of us live at Ungwa Uku,”Lawal told interrogators in the 25-minute tape.
On the killing of the lawmakers, the suspected assassin said, “We were mobilised by Sale Kura who personally handed over to me N20,000 twice (making N40,000) and we trekked to the abode of one of the targets while some other members of the gang arrived on motorbike.
“The target was identified and we went out of our way to spray others within the vicinity to avoid any of them recognising us. The gang escaped in the ensuring melee.”
The first scene of the video tape of Lawal’s interrogation opened in an apartment where six cops, led by a high ranking officer, were seated. A Mobile Police officer came in with the  suspected assassin.
A gentle voice fired the first salvo,”Who are you”?
The suspect answered: “My name is Ibrahim Lawal; I live at Layin Yarbawa Ungwa-Uku. I had my primary  education at Ungwa Uku, and proceeded to Government Secondary School Bichi. I ventured into professional dying after I dropped out of secondary school. I maintained a shop at Layin Tazarce at the same quarters.”
In response to a question on whether he was a member of Boko Haram, the suspect, in a loud voice, declared: “I am not a member of Boko Haram; I am a hired assassin and armed robber. We operated in  a group of 6 and all of us live at Ungwa Uku”.
“Tell us more about the group”?, one of the police officers said.
Lawal replied: “We have Sagir Yahuza of Farin Massalaci Ungwa Uku, Surajo Adamu of Layin Tazarce Ungwa Uku, Tasiu Shuaibu of Layin Yarabawa Ungwa Uku and Mohammed AbdulSalam of Layin Tazarce Ungwa Uku quarters in Kano metropolis”.
On how he joined the gang, the suspect alleged, “I was personally recruited into the group by Alhaji Sale Kura who happens to be my neighbor and we enjoy a close relationship since 1999 when he became the PDP chairman of Tarauni Local Government Area of Kano State”.
Asked to comment on the criminal gang, Lawal stated:  “We are not only into killings, we were also involved in violent robbery operations and Alhaji Sale Kura usually provided  us with concoction to drink before embarking on operations. The drink had the effect of emboldening us  as we confronted  risks head on”.
The interrogation drew to a close with a question on how the suspect was captured by the police.
Lawal stated: “I was with Mabo, the leader of the gang, when we received a call that a person on our hit list was sighted around Mabo shop and we quickly armed ourselves and moved in but, on arriving at the shop, the said person was no where to be found.
“As we were returning to my shop on a motorbike, we were accosted by a team of police officers who arrested me but Mabo was lucky as he escaped.”
Already, the state command of the Police has vowed not to spare anyone connected with the assassination of the lawmakers.
A senior officer of the Command told Sunday vanguard that “we would ensure that our investigation into the matter is very thorough as well as send the right signal that the Police Force of today means well; just as our Inspector General, MD Abubakar, is leaving no stone unturned in his transformation of the Force

Cancer Killing Cells Created for the first time

Scientists have created cells capable of killing cancer for the first time. The dramatic breakthrough was made by researchers in Japan who created cancer-specific killer T cells. They say the development paves the way for the cells being directly injected into cancer patients for therapy.
Researchers at the RIKEN Research Centre for Allergy and Immunology revealed they have succeeded for the first time in creating cancer-specific, immune system cells called killer T lymphocytes. To create these, the team first had to reprogramme T lymphocytes specialised in killing a certain type of cancer into another type of cell called induced pluripotent stem cells (iPS cells).
These iPS cells then generated fully active, cancer-specific T lymphocytes. These lymphocytes regenerated from iPS cells could potentially serve as cancer therapy in the future. Previous research has shown that killer T lymphocytes produced in the lab using conventional methods are inefficient in killing cancer cells mainly because they have a very short life-span, which limits their use as treatment for cancer. To overcome the problems, the Japanese researchers, led by Hiroshi Kawamoto, reprogrammed mature human killer T lymphocytes into iPS cells and investigated how these cells differentiate.
The team induced killer T lymphocytes specific for a certain type of skin cancer to reprogramme into iPS cells by exposing the lymphocytes to the “Yamanaka factors” – a group of compounds that induce cells to revert back to a non-specialised, pluripotent stage. They maintained the genetic reorganisation, enabling them to express the cancer-specific receptor on their surface.
The new T lymphocytes were also shown to be active and to produce an anti-tumour compound. Doctor Kawamoto said: “We have succeeded in the expansion of antigen-specific T cells by making iPS cells and differentiating them back into functional T cells. “The next step will be to test whether these T cells can selectively kill tumour cells but not other cells in the body. If they do, these cells might be directly injected into patients for therapy. This could be realised in the not-so-distant future.’ The findings were published in the journal Cell Stem Cell. Dr Dusko Ilic, Senior Lecturer in Stem Cell Science, King’s College London, said:
‘The study tackled a novel, quite interesting approach to cell based therapy, something that we do not usually hear about. “Although this approach requires further verification and a lot of work needs to be done before we can think about clinical trials, the initial data are promising. “This pioneering work definitely provides a strong foundation to build and expand our knowledge about new opportunities in cell based therapy and personalised medicine.”

PRESIDENCY 2015: Uproar greets Jonathan’s Mystirous posters

Barely 24 hours after the re-election campaign posters of President Goodluck Jonathan hit Abuja, unknown persons have vandalised the publicity materials placed in strategic locations in the Federal Capital Territory as uproar greeted the mysterious appearance of the posters.
Checks by Vanguard revealed that most of the posters in Asokoro, where influential Nigerian politicians and economic players reside, had been either defaced or removed. As at 4pm yesterday, the President’s posters around ECOWAS, AYA, Gowon Crescent and adjoining streets had been taken off and replaced with some other religious or social publicity materials.
However,  a few of the President’s campaign materials displayed around the premises of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Secretariat in Wuse 5 and surrounding areas, were still intact as at press time. It was not clear who defaced or removed the posters just as no one has claimed responsibility for placing them in the first place.
Call peddlers to order, Ohanaeze, ACF urge Jonathan
This is coming as the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) urged the President to call those placing the posters to order and the Jigawa State House of Assembly asked the state Governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido, to run for the presidency.
Umbrella body of Igbo socio-cultural organizations, Ohanaeze, said the posters were plots to destabilise the polity.
Outgoing Secretary-General of Ohanaeze, Chief Nduka Eya, told Vanguard that it would be difficult to believe that Jonathan had knowledge of the posters because “from what we know of the president’s character, he cannot do such a thing.
“Some evil minded people may be responsible for the printing of these posters which appeared on the streets of Abuja on the first day of year 2013 when Nigerians are still in festive mood. This is aimed at causing more crises and overheat a country that is already experiencing a lot of problems.
*Campaign posters
*Campaign posters
“2015 is still very far and it is absurd for anybody to start campaign for the presidency now. Jonathan had promised us that he will run for only one term of four years. If he decides not to keep his promise and decides to run for another term, then he must come out and say so, then Ndigbo will determine the next line of action, but that must be discussed,” he averred.
ACF National Publicity Secretary, Anthony Sani doubted if those who placed the posters did it with the consent of President Jonathan because “this is not time for politics but for governance.”
Said Sani:  “I am not aware of any posters of President Jonathan flooding the streets of Abuja. But I do not think such would be by the consent of the President, since he told the nation recently that he was yet to make up his mind as to whether to contest or not. More so that a case of whether he can stand for 2015 is still in court. I believe because this is not time for politics, but for governance, the Presidency should call those placing the posters to order.”
They are expressing their views – Presidency
However, the Presidency, yesterday, disowned the posters.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Dr. Reuben Abati, in an interview, said the posters did not emanate from the presidency and that the President has not authorised anybody to print any campaign poster for him as reagrds 2015 elections.
According to Abati, those pasting the posters were trying to express their own view. The President, he said, had stated that he would talk about the Presidency from 2014, adding that those doing this do not have the consent of the president.
“What is most important now is for the president to deliver on his electioneering promises to Nigerians and not embark on the pasting of posters.
“It has not come from the president. Nigerians should take the president for his word and ignore any other information to the contrary.
Asked whether the president would take measures to disuade those doing that, Abati said since the posters do not have the names of those promoting them, there was little the president could do.
It’s act of desperation – Benue CNPP
Reacting to the issue,  the Chairman of Benue State Conference of Nigeria Political Parties, CNPP, Engr. Baba Agan described the flooding of parts of Abuja with Jonathan’s 2015 presidential campaign posters as an act of desperation and a calculated attempt to create confusion to heat up the polity. He noted that the brains behind the pasting of the posters were doing so in order to fly a kite that was doomed from the onset, adding that “Nigerians would not fall for it.”
Jonathan should first redeem the nation –Bauchi CPC Chairman
The Bauchi State Chairman of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) Aliyu Abubakar Saidu said the posters were hasty. He urged President Jonathan to redeem the country from its predicaments before talking of elections.
Saidu, in an interview with Vanguard, contended that since the election of the president into office in 2011 the country has gone through very turbulent times, which need to be addressed to restore sanity.
We need problem-solving posters – Cleric
Bishop of Calabar Diocese of the Anglican Communion, Rt. Rev. Tunde Adeleye said what Nigerians need now is not the posters of President Jonathan for the 2015 presidential election but posters on how to tackle sufferings in the country.
Opposing the move, Bishop Adeleye said: “That is very Nigerian. That is what we do. We major in minors and then divert attention from the problems of the people. It may be the work of some stooges who will want to divert attention from the hardship and poverty we are suffering from.”
It’s too early – SSPA chieftain
Also reacting, a founding member of South South Peoples Assembly, Dr. Ambrose Akpanika said that he was confused whether the issue of 2015 should dominate the political scene of the country now because according to him, Nigeria was facing a very difficult time.
Run, Jigawa House charges Lamido
Meanwhile, the  Jigawa State House of Assembly has announced its full support for the state governor, Sule Lamido to contest the 2015 presidential election. Speaking while receiving the 2013 appropriation bill, the Speaker, Alhaji Adamu Ahmad Sarawa said it had became necessary for the lawmakers to speak up considering the pressure on  Lamido from all parts of the country to run.
“We deemed it a duty to us to follow suit as those working with him, we knew his competence as well as his style and qualities of leadership. We heard so much comments of former and present political leaders and traditional rulers praying for Allah to make governor Lamido the next president come 2015. May Allah accept their prayers”.

Prophet T.B Joshua Prophecies for Politicians In 2013

One of the highlights of the new year in Nigeria is the deluge of prophesies by popular pastors. These prophesies make the headlines of newspapers and tabloids then are referenced all through the year if and when incidences occur. The pastor of one of the fastest growing pentecostal churches in Nigeria, SCOAN – The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations, Pastor T.B Joshua ushered in the New Year with a special service at the church’s headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.
Here is an account of his prophesies;
Loud applause heralded Joshua’s arrival in the service, and he went straight into the prophecy for the year, stating that people wished to hear the mind of God for the upcoming year.
Read the full transcript of his predictions below…
(Unpleasant) Surprises for Famous, Popular and Rich Men including Politicians
“2013 is a year of surprises. I am seeing many great, famous, popular and rich men and politicians will become helpless and in need of help in matters of sickness, disease, finances, death, etc,” he said in the service broadcast live on the popular Christian station Emmanuel TV. “One of the causes, they have failed to reward those who helped them to succeed. This is the year of judgement especially for politicians who use youth to support their political ambitions without reward after winning power.”
Farming will Flourish
Joshua then proceeded to celebrate the future of farming, claiming that providence would favour those who engaged in it this year. “Those in the foodstuff business will have a field day this year. Farming and agriculture will be the order of the day and will help greatly to be the source of solution this year. People engaged in it will be greatly blessed.”
Joshua was emphatic in his conviction that such actions would reap great rewards, stating it was a secret God had revealed to him. “Foodstuff business and agriculture or farming are anointed businesses this New Year, to revive the world from economic depression. This is the secret of God revealed to you today. Quote me; you will not regret doing it. My name is T.B. Joshua.”
Message for Young People – Stop Travelling Abroad and Invest in Agriculture
Joshua, speaking to the thousands who had gathered in his church to usher in the New Year, counselled young people who spent vast resources of energy, time and finances in the pursuit of foreign travel to rather invest in agriculture. “They will achieve greatness by transacting in agriculture and foodstuff and become successful in export and import business.”
Message for Couples & Prospective Entrepreneurs
He further advised couples dissatisfied with their current occupations to allow one of them to pursue a career in agronomy. “Those who have been working for many years and have never been satisfied with the job and salary they receive, the little limited resources at their disposal should be invested in foodstuff business or agriculture, especially those already married. They should divide themselves in such a way that either the husband or wife should step down from service where they receive salary and face agriculture.”
Answered prayers for couples “seeking for the fruit of the womb”
He proclaimed that faithful Christians would receive answers to prayers, especially in the area of couples seeking for the fruit of the womb.
Be Charitable!
Joshua called on people to engage in charitable activities, especially in provision of scholarships to deserving young people. “Share their pain and share their joy. This year, there is great reward in doing this if you do it with all your heart.”

Kumuyi, Adeboye, Predict Better Year

The General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi, and the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye have predicted hope for Nigeria in the new year.
Kumuyi, who spoke at the Watch Night Service of his church attended by thousands of faithful at the Deeper Life Conference Centre, DLCC, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, Soutwest Nigeria, said there is a glorious hope for Nigeria in the New Year.
Pastors Adeboye and Kumuyi, predict better year.
“It will be a year of great miracles and wonders,” he said, but stressed the need for a strong foundation anchored in Christ so that the nation could enjoy the best from God, adding that if the foundation of the nation was destroyed, the people would be affected.
He said Christians should expect better things from God in 2013 as God had promised to give hope to His children, but stressed the need for Nigerians to turn to God through repentance in order to make their foundation stronger.
According to Kumuyi, God’s people would live in abundance this year, adding that there was no need to be anxious as the year promised better things for the people than last year.
Speaking at the Cross Over Service of the church at the Redemption Camp, Lagos-Badagry Expressway, General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye  described the new year as one that would be filled with signs and wonders for Nigerians.
He’s optimistic that before June this year, many Nigerians would have cause to rejoice as their hope would rise, but called for prayers, adding that God spared the lives of certain individuals in the country last year because of intercessory prayers of the Christians.
“The prayers of some of you minimized death of prominent Nigerians last year, don’t stop praying. No matter the darkness around you, your star will shine brighter.
“God says He will speak peace to your storms; Certain individuals have stagnated for sometime. The reasons for your stagnation will become known, will be addressed and will be eliminated. Therefore progress will follow,” he said.
Adeboye added that this year would be a better year than last year, saying that the principles to make this happen include praise and worship of God, putting God first before any other consideration; evangelism, among others. He said praising God would be the key to unlock heaven’s door for the outpouring of God’s blessings upon His people.
“If they say we are crazy for shouting Hallelujah in our environment and wherever we find ourselves, then that is a good kind of craziness,” he said.
In his own message, the General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (worldwide), Dr. Daniel Olukoya, described2013 as one of a “rage of political confusion. The year will also experience “uncommon lawlessness,” with “mysterious happenings we never heard before.”
Speaking at the Prayer City on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Tuesday, Olukoya stated that all organised wicked destroyers shall split and destroy themselves this year, adding that the “year will generate widespread sparks of rebellion and it will be volatile with hot temper as the accused will become the judge in some situations.
“This is a year we should approach with great caution, particularly the men as the year will be volatile, very fragile and very dangerous to toy with. If you do, the result will be dangerous.”
The cleric called for prayers to avert natural disasters, adding that 2013 would also witness shaking for nations that support godlessness, as well as “hissing and shame for God’s enemies.
“Year 2013 will, as a result of the love for money by many people, witness a resurgence of occultism, while on the other hand; many sorrows will be turned to joy. The new year will also experience unbelievable betrayal and disloyalty.”

Styl Plus Finally Split

The once popular R&B group Styl Plus make up of Shifi Omoefe, Zeal Onyecheme and Tunde Akinsanmi have finally broken up to pursue solo careers.

Tunde has made his debut as a solo artiste with the single, ‘In Your Eyes’ and has changed his stage name to Native Boy. He has also established his own record label, B.A.T Records.

Styl Plus was one of the hit-makers in the Nigerian music scene in 2003 when they released two monster hits, Olufunmi and Runaway.

It was said that the move to go in different directions was first made by Zeal, who was frustrated by the group’s inability to maintain the standard it created in 2003. He is expected to hit the airwaves with his solo effort next year.

“Zeal is already talking to a big Nigerian music star about the possibility of being signed to his label. He is frustrated like the other members, but he is the one who is making the move to start a solo career,” a source said.

The group’s 11-track debut album, ‘Expressions’ was released in February 2006, but only two cuts, ‘Imagine That’ and ‘Iya Basira’ were hits. Later, there were speculations that Styl Plus was on the verge of breaking up, but they debunked it in a follow up single, ‘Four Years.’

Shifi, Tunde and Zeal first met at the Federal University of Technology, Akure, in the late 90s. There, they forged a friendship and a music group that would redefine the R&B music in Nigeria was formed. They were likened to America’s Boys 2 Men.

But their slide began with their obstinate refusal to relocate to Lagos, the nerve-centre of entertainment. This would be compounded by a poor second album, ‘Back and Better’ which saw the ratings of the group drop dramatically.

Efforts to speak with members of the defunct Styl Plus proved abortive.
