EFCC have for some time now, been trying to get hold of impeached Adamawa State Governor, Murtala Nyako, but it seems Nyako has gone into hidding.

The Federal Government has throughout this week been under pressure to to declare the impeached governor wanted.

EFCC wants the former Chief of Defence Staff to be charged with the alleged looting of Adamawa State treasury and also treason against the nation.

The search has been on for some time now and all clues leads to security officials believing Nyako has fled.

A source in Yola told Vanguard that Nyako’s security aides took him out of the Capital and into hiding in either Abuja or Saudi Arabia, on the same day following his impeachment, meanwhile other say he is in hiding alright but still in Yola.

25 year old Hope Olusegun, and seven of his mates were arrested in December 2012 at the 1004 Housing Estate by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations of fraud and internet scam.

The 'Yahoo Boys' who have been operating for quite a while lived a lavish lifestyle, bought the most expensive cars and showed off at every opportunity they got. One of the undergraduates, Hope Olusegun (pictured above) an indigene of Okene, Kogi State, had a Mercedes Benz SUV, and a 4Matic Mercedes Benz car and before he was arrested, he bought a Toyota Camry for his one year old son.

Yes, that's what they did with other people's money. Fortunately some residents at the estate alerted the EFCC about their activities. Please continue...

“One of the undergraduates, Hope Olusegun, a 25 year-old from Okene in Kogi State, and claims to be a student of Computer Science at the Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University, Malaysia. He was arrested by operatives of EFCC over allegations of fraud and internet scam.

A search conducted by EFCC operatives at Olusegun’ s apartment led to the recovery of several items such as laptops, iPad phones, traveling documents, cheque books, flash drives, internet modem, and three exotic cars – a Mercedes Benz Jeep, One 4Matic Mercedes Benz Car and a Range Rover Sport SUV. When asked how he came about the cars, Olusegun said the cars belonged to his sister who he claimed lives in the United Kingdom. Operatives of the EFCC also downloaded over 80 implicating documents from the laptops recovered from Olusegun.

However, the Commission is making effort to track down other members of Olusegun’s syndicate who are currently at large. Tunde Wasiu Sodiq, another undergraduate and member of another syndicate with close affinity to Olusegun’s gang was also nabbed by operatives of the EFCC at the Housing Estate.

Besides Sodiq, six other members of the syndicate were equally arrested. They are Badmus Akeem O, Ajijola Oluwatosin Emmanuel, Adebesin Olalekan, Raji Resaq O, Ajibola Adeniyi and Adeboye Lamidi.

Their arrest was sequel to a petition on their notorious activities at the Housing Estate. Sodiq (23) hails from Lagos and claimed to be an undergraduate of Brandry University, Malaysia .

The leader of the syndicate, Badmus Akeem, hails from Ayetoro, Ogun State and attended Oniwaya High School, Agege. He claimed to be a traveler who does odd jobs wherever he travels.”
Tunde Sodiq claimed the Range Rover Sport car which was recovered from them belonged to his mother but the personalized number plate bears his nickname – “T.Wizzle”. In his statement, he claimed his mother “decided to customize the car plate number after the name of her first son."

The suspects will be arraigned in court soon.

Police arrest man for pouring acid on fiancée

A middle-aged man David Suleiman has been arrested by the police in Lagos State for allegedly pouring acid on his fiancée, Chika Egbo and a yet to be identified Okada rider at Ikotun area of Lagos State.

Suleiman who is currently being detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti,Yaba, Lagos, was said to have attacked his girl friend, a 300 level student at Enugu State College of Education,  with  acid for  refusing him access to their only child.

Police sources at the state SCID, intimated    Vanguard that trouble began for the couple   when Egbo became pregnant  for Suleiman, and he abandoned her claiming  that he travelled  out of the country, and leaving   her with the burden of fending for herself and the baby.

But few months after  giving birth, he came back requesting to see the baby and he was refused.
A source, who craved anonymity, said he tricked the  25-year-old students who resides in Enugu State to Lagos State  and he took  her to an hidden spot in Ikotun  where  he poured the  acid  on her.

“An Okada rider who witnessed as the incident unfold went after Suleiman, but while he chased him, Suleiman emptied the can of acid on the Okada rider, who  held him strongly waiting for the help.

Other Okada riders who drove by saw what was happening and the came to his rescue and they took Suleiman to Ikotun police station while the Okada rider and Egbo were rushed to a hospital.”

Meanwhile,  Egbo,  who is laying critically ill at  the emergency unit of the Lagos State Teaching Hospital, LASUTH,  had her face, chest and some other parts of body destroyed by the acid bath.

EFCC: Billionaire Ex-Council Chairman Destroys Evidence Of Corruption By Burning Down Treasury Department

Operatives of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Kasimu Lawal Abubakar (a.k.a Abasco), the former Chairman of Sabon Gari Local Government, Zaria, Kaduna State

The arrest followed a petition alleging that the former council boss abused his office to enrich himself. Other allegations contained in the petition include illegal acquisition of properties worth billions of naira.

 In the course of investigating the allegations, operatives of the Commission stormed the council only to discover that evidence would assist the investigation had been destroyed in an inferno that gutted the council secretariat building, particularly the Treasury Department.

However in the course of executing a search warrant at the home of the suspect, several official documents belonging to the local government including, but not limited to original copies of payment schedule of the local government staff, tax clearance certificates and official files of the local government that are not suppose to be in his custody an ex- official of the council, were recovered.

Further investigation uncovered properties acquired by the council chief while he held sway between 2007 and 2011, first as interim chairman and later as substantive Chairman.

The properties scattered in different locations in the state include a farm house, private school, (ABC Academy, Zaria which is an acronym of his nick name Abasco), residential houses and a block industry all in Kaduna State.

Apart from the alleged properties, it was also been discovered that the suspect converted some of the local government properties to his personal use.

The suspect has made useful statement while investigation continues.

Straight Forward Advice On Marriage That Works

Let’s face it; if you’re looking for advice on marriage, you could spend DAYS researching on the internet without even scratching the surface of all the marriage advice that’s out there.

Wonder bank owner in Enugu remanded in prison for alleged N600m fraud

An Enugu Federal High Court yesterday remanded a prominent lawyer and Chief Executive of Karchack Services Limited, Mr Christian Chukwudozie Ebuzoeme in prison custody for alleged fraud. The laywer is alleged to have conspired with one Amaechi Okoye (now at large) to advertise for money deposits without having banking licences.

He was arraigned before the court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a three-count charge bordering on intent to obtain money by false pretences. Counsel to the EFCC, Johnson Ojogbane had prayed the court to withdraw his earlier charge dated November 7, 2012 to pave way for the new three-count charge.

Counsel to the accused person, J. Agha did not object to the application but urged the court to allow him argue his client’s bail application.

But the presiding judge, Justice Mohamed Shaibu refused to grant the request for argument on the bail application on the ground that it was not properly filed before the court. Justice Shaibu subsequently, adjourned the case to November 21 for trial and remanded the accused person in prison custody.

A press statement issued by the EFCC had earlier disclosed that Ebuzoeme, a native of Ojoto, in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State who doubles as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Karchack Services Limited would be docked for allegedly defrauding innocent citizens of their hard earned money through a phoney investment scheme involving over N600million.

The release, which was signed by Wilson Uwujaren, the acting Head, Media and Publicity said that Mr Ebuzoeme and his accomplice, Mr. Amaechi Okoye ( still at large ) through Kachack Services Limited located in New Haven, Enugu, for three years mobilised deposits from unsuspecting members of the public using the promise of mouth watering returns on investment over specific periods as bait. “

At the beginning, a few of the investors were paid dividends which helped swayed them to plough in more resources and equally convinced others to join the fray. But the flow of dividends soon dried up. After several months of being unable to pay their investors, the two partners, Ebuzoeme and Okoye, split the company.

“Okoye continued to manage the business of Karchack Services Limited while Ebuzoeme moved on to establish Yardenit Limited but the operations were still the same. They continued to defraud unsuspecting Nigerians through bogus promises that were never fulfilled.

“While the investors were left clutching at straw, Ebuzoeme and his partner in crime, Okoye continually smiled to the bank and expanded their business to new frontiers in China and South Africa.”

Veteran Nollywood actor, Peter Eneh, dies in Enugu

Veteran Nollywood actor, Peter Eneh, died on Thursday evening in Enugu, days after one of his legs was amputated.

Eneh, who had been admitted to Parklane Hospital, Enugu for some months succumbed to the illness.

His legs were said to have become infected, leading to his hospitalisation.

Eneh served two terms as chairman of the Enugu chapter of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and had featured in a number of films.

With his death, Nollywood has lost yet another respected member of its fold.

Among departed Nollywood personalities in recent times are Sam Loco Efe, Geraldine Ekeocha, Ahmed Alasari.

She is a product of AMBO reality TV show and she tells whoever cares to listen that her virginity is still intact despite massive sexual harassment in the movie industry. The Adamawa State-born actress even boasts that nothing would make her lose her virginity to another man except her husband.

Annabella Zwyndila, who was recently nominated for ZAFAA Awards as Best Upcoming Actress, opens up to The Entertainer on her journey to movie stardom. Excerpts:

Tell us about youself

I came from the northern part of Nigeria, Adamawa State to be precise. My father is a military officer while my mother is a lecturer. I came from a home where education and discipline is a necessity. I am a twin (laughs). I graduated from University of Jos where I studied Physics.

Where is your twin sister?

She works in Abuja; she is not an actress eventhough she studied Theatre Arts.

Back then in school, did you have the intention of going into acting?

No! Actually a lot of people have asked me this question before but do you know that my coming into acting was a surprise because I didn’t have plans of going into it even after some friends persuaded me.

When did you venture into acting?

Professionally, I would say a year ago, but I have done some minor roles while I was still in school.

Would you say you stumbled into acting?

It all started when a friend of mine got me into Amstel Malta Box Office reality television show. I am someone who has multiple personalites, so she was like I can make it in the competition and all that. I didn’t take it seriously but eventually I got picked. It was not as if I had it in mind that I was going to be an actress. It just happened like that. I attended a few auditions and got chosen for roles.

What was your experience in the AMBO house?

(Laughs) It was funny and memorable because we had a lot of people with different attitudes and ways of behaviour. So, you have the option of enduring people or going out of control. But one thing I understand is that acting is not that easy, there are some procedures you have to go through. So, I leanrt a lot in the house.

What challenges are you facing as an actress?

I have challenges as an actress and even as a human being. While I was growing up, I had challenges but now it is not all about challenges, it is how you are able to come out of what you see as challenges and how strong you can stand. My father taught us to always believe in ourselves, and to always to have a plan B. I have been able to manage challenges though I have a couple of friends who because of one thing or the other feel inadequate and begin to settle for failure and all that. No, it didn’t happen with me. I was taught how to manage challenges.

Did your parents object when you wanted to join the movie industry?

My mum didn’t buy the idea and when I told my dad, he was shocked. He looked at me in the eyes for like three to four minutes and he was like ‘well, it is your dream face it’ . With his expression, he was saying a whole lot. ‘I have done mine; I have achieved my dreams and I am successful. Let me see you succeed’. So, it wasn’t really cool, I have to struggle to make my mark.

Did you have a quarrel or argument with your parents about your decision?

No way, should I? I can’t argue with my father, I can’t argue with my mum either. My mum didn’t support it. They said actresses don’t have good stories to tell. They don’t have good ending. The women don’t get married, the men are very loose, I don’t know how to put it, but the truth is when I told my father, he was like ‘it’s your dream, live it’. So, this is why I desire to make them proud, but I am happy it’s coming out well.

A lot of things are happening in the movie industry, how do you think you can break into the A-list?

I believe there is enough room for everyone. Genevieve can be Genevieve in her own style, Stella Damasus can be Damascus in her own style. I will also create my own style and mannerism. I have my own way of delivering, my own way of expressing things.

As a military officer’s daughter, you must have grown up in the barrack, so what’s your growing up like?

It was memorable to start with. It was fair but I won’t say we were too rich or too poor; we were just in between. We had everything, we went anywhere we liked. I say ‘we’ and that includes me and my twin sister. I remember when I lost money belonging to my dad, you know, the old man locked me indoors for three days and I got to be given water and food. I had my bath indoors for three good days, no coming out. It was like a house arrest. My dad is so used to it when you do something wrong, he won’t just come out and say ‘kneel down  there or raise up your hands’ as we were treated in school. He locked me up and said what I did was wrong, and that I should be more careful next time.

Can you say you’re born with a silver spoon?

I won’t say I was born with a silver spoon because there were tough times. Sometimes, we asked dad for something and he would say it was not the right time to have it. But then we enjoyed our childhood.

What inspired you into acting? 

I won’t say something inspired me because as I stated earlier it is something I never saw coming. I am my own inspiration; I am my own strength. When the thought of acting came to my mind, I started looking out for some people.    

Who is your role model?

I will mention only a few (laughs) because I don’t want some people to feel I love one person more than the other. I love all of them, but the one that comes to my mind right now is Joke Silva.

What is the most difficult role you have played in a movie?

I don’t think there is any difficult role I have played.

There must be a role or better still a script that was so difficult for you to interpret?

I like my role in Samantha, it is not just because it’s a lead role for I have done three lead roles in movies that would soon hit the market. But it is about uniqueness.

Are you married?

No

Northern girls marry early, is it your educational background that made you not to follow the trend?

(Laughs) I am not a Muslim. But it doesn’t really have to do with religion. It has to do with what the parents feel is good for their children. I went through the four walls of the university and marriage is something that will happen naturally. It is not as if it’s something that is going to be imposed on someone. S, I am still waiting.

What would you say about young girls that are being forced into marriage?

I would say it’s not proper because you have to give the person involved an opportunity to express herself, to know whom she wants to marry, whom she loves and all that. If you force someone to marry a person definitely problems will come.

Did someone come for your hand in marriage at a tender age?

Yes, several times. I remember when I was 13-years-old, a man wanted to get married to me. And when I turned 15, someone in the church also wanted to marry me but it didn’t really work because my parents felt that I was too young. But now, I have to find someone or rather someone must find me.

Have you been sexually abused?

No.

Have you been sexually harrassed by any producer?

Of course, sometimes it happens (laughs). A role that is supposed to be yours is taken from you because of one or two requests that you can’t meet. So, sexual harrassment is not only in the movie industry. It is everywhere.

Can you act nude?

It depends on what I am going nude for and what part of my body I am going to expose. But I want to say that acting is not necessarily about going nude to prove a point. There are several ways that one can actually prove a point. Any role given to me as long as it is about going naked, I won`t do it.

If you’re given a script to act a lesbian, can you do it?

(Laughs) As an actress, I have to be all round. I have to be flexible. So, every script given to an actress must be interpreted to bring a true reflection of the character to the audience. I am not a lesbian in a real sense. I am not. But the character one plays in a movie doesn’t relate to the person’s real life.

Have you been heartbroken before?

Heartbreak is something that has to do with an individual, if you think your heart can be broken then it can be broken.

When did you start dating?

I started dating when I was 23-years-old, but it was a queen relationship. It`s not something based on mundane things and all that, it was just a matured relationship but I am not going to say much about it.

Did the relationship last for so long?

Not really long.

Did you have sex during the relationship?

I am still a virgin. I lost my guy to the cold hands of death but recently I found someone else and we are getting married soon.

How were you able to overcome sexual urge while in the university?

(Laughs) Listen, my dad taught us good morals. My father is an army officer, so I fear him a lot. In fact, I respect him a lot. He is not everywhere but he keeps his eyes on us. Even when I went abroad, he was not there but I didn’t misbehave. While I was in the hostel he was not there with me but the good morals he taught us have kept me till date.

As a virgin, how were you able to cope with temptations here and there?

Actually, that side of me is dead until I get married. Aside avoiding pre-marital sex, I am also a born again Christian and I fear God a lot. I can remember while we were growing up we had that lesson about sexually transmitted diseases and the fear of all those things really kept me away from sex. So, if I must have a relationship we must enter into agreement of no sex. It has to be a smooth relationship but if you feel you can’t wait and you’re so much in a hurry or your body is inching you, then propose. I have all those things in mind but thank God I have found someone who proposed. So, as a married woman, I’ll be free to do it and know I am not committing any sin.

What is your ideal man?

My ideal man doesn’t have anything to do with what and where he is coming from or how deep his pocket is. This person I am dating has a beautiful side of him, he is very hospitable and very caring. He is understanding and God fearing. These are the kind of people I like around me.

If your husband says he is not comfortable with your acting, what will you do?

I love movies so much it has now become part of me, it’s my baby, my first born child. I nurture it with all jealousy so if you come into my life, you have to understand me, you have to embrace my concept and support it. And these are the things I found in this particular guy, he loves everything I do even though he has reservation about acting. He thinks I can make a difference so he believes in me. I am not just going to disappoint him, but if the time comes for me to choose between movies and my love, I prefer to choose my love because he is my future.

Aside acting what else do you do?

I am a writer. I write a lot and have a whole lot of scripts at my disposal. Very soon some of them would see the light of day.

Is it true that you are related to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar?

He is my uncle; he is a very nice man and a father. He is always there for people. I remember when we were little kids, he and my dad had these nicknames they used to call each other. All that the people portray him to be is not true. He is a nice person, he is caring, he is ever willing to support and help people. He is a nice father, and a nice uncle that everyone wishes to have.

Ubah: Court restrains Access Bank, Coscharis

A Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday adjourned the suit filed by Capital Oil and Gas Ltd and its MD/CEO, Mr. Ifeanyi Patrick Ubah against Access Bank and Coscharis Motors Limited, to January 21, 2013.

Justice O.E Abang also restrained security agencies from harassing Mr. Ubah.

Coscharis Motors had earlier petitioned the Police that Capital Oil allegedly breached a joint venture bordering on importation and distribution of petroleum products.

According to Access Bank and Coscharis, the poor execution of the deal had resulted in the loss of over N21billion which was drawn as a credit from the bank with the Coscharis boss, Mr Cosmas Maduka being the guarantor.

The latest suit came up for hearing last week before Justice Abang. But the respondents were neither in court, just as there was no lawyer to represent them, even though they had been served with court summons.

Counsel to the applicants (Capital Oil), Mr. R. A. Lawal Rabana, (SAN), had said that he was in court to move the application, which was duly served on the defendants. Rabana said the Writ of Summons was served on the defendants much earlier with the application and motion and that the hearing notice of the motion was equally served on the first and second defendants on November 6 and 9 respectively.

He told the court that the defendants had seven days under the Rules of the Court to respond to the processes served on them, either positively or otherwise, adding that the seven days had elapsed.

The court, after confirming that the defendants were properly and duly served the originating court processes in respect of the application including the hearing notices and that the respondents were fully aware of the sitting of the court but they were absent and did not also send a lawyer or a letter to explain reasons for their absence, allowed the applicant’s counsel to move his application.

Addressing the court yesterday, Capital Oil’s lawyer informed that the respondents were moving at an alarming speed to deal with, and destroy the assets, properties and business interests of the applicants including third party assets and businesses, which have dealings with the applicants. He said that the respondents had arrested two ships carrying the goods and consignments of the applicants, adding that one of the ships was seized in South Africa while the other was impounded in Nigeria.

He alleged that the respondents were wreaking great havoc on the business interests of the applicants, and had even filed an action in an English court, which they now use as a basis to go after the assets of the applicants world-wide.

Rabana urged the court to give an order to preserve the res, otherwise, by the time they come back to the court, there would be nothing left for his client. Justice Abang granted the interlocutory order restraining the defendants, their agents, privies and or servants or any other body acting on the instructions of the defendants from interfering with the properties and businesses of the applicants pending the determination of the suit.

He also ordered the applicants to file an indemnity within 48 hours to indemnify the court in the event that the court ought not make this order or the order be found to be frivolous. Further hearing on the matter was fixed for January 21, 2013.

Capital Oil crisis: Cosmas Maduka vs Ifeanyi Ubah

President of Coscharis Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, returned to the country at the weekend to throw more light on the raging loan saga with Capital Oil and Gas Limited, vowing that he would use every legitimate means at his disposal to recover the debt owed him by Capital Oil boss Ifeanyi Ubah.

“I will collect my money to the very last kobo,” Maduka said on a breach of contract between his company and Capital Oil which he said culminated into a loss running into billions of naira. But in a swift reaction, Ubah told Daily Sun in a telephone chat that he would no longer join issues with anybody on the matter since he had taken both Maduka and Access Bank to court over the transaction, this is even as he alluded to a plot by the bank to use the Cosharis boss to take over his Capital Oil assets.

“The case is already a subject of litigation in court and I don’t want to comment on it,” Ubah said. “But I know that the target is my business; they want to take over my assets and they would stop at nothing, including lies to achieve their target,” Ubah added. According to Maduka, his company Coscharis Group had entered into a Joint Venture (JV) deal with Capital Oil for the purpose of importing and distributing Premium Motor Spirit (commonly called petrol).

Maduka said his foray into the fuel business with Capital Oil was necessitated more by compassion to bail the young Ubah out of a credit crunch crisis as most Nigerian creditor institutions had refused to advance him any form of loan for his business. Vibrant Venture Limited was subsequently appointed as a warehousing agent for the joint venture partnership.

Maduka claimed after the joint venture deal was sealed, both companies were able to secure a loan from Access Bank for the importation of Premium Motor Spirit, but he alleged that Ubah and his company breached the terms of the deal by engaging in the diversion of the imported products and other fraudulent activities which had marred the ability to execute the joint venture deal as a profitable establishment.

“Capital Oil’s diversion of these products in collusion with the Shippers has made the repayment of the facility schedules to come from sales proceeds impossible,” said Maduka. “Accordingly, the exposure to Access Bank Plc stands at about N21billion while interest rate accrues. Capital Oil has also refused to release the 56,568,587.11 litres of PMS in the designated tank farm for this transaction under the management of our warehousing agent in its tank farm, for disposal to facilitate payment of our financial obligation to Access Bank,” he added.

Maduka who hails from the same Nnewi, Anambra State, as Ubah said he had to report the younger businessman to the Special Fraud Unit (SFU) when every effort to get Uba to live up to his contractual obligations in respect of the petrol import deal (including a meeting called by the traditional ruler of their town) failed to get Uba to the round table to sort out the matter.

Maduka showed Daily Sun various documents sourced from regulatory agencies to back up his allegations that Capital Oil did breach its terms of contract by not executing the letters of credit it collected for importing and discharging products in Nigeria so it could make claims to be re-imbused by the government under the fuel subsidy scheme.

“These products did not arrive,” Maduka said of the breached contracts. “And when Capital Oil was asked for the whereabout of the products, no satisfactory answer was provided,” he added. Ubah acknowledged Access Bank as its creditor “financing over 70 per cent of its importation” deals. Ubah who honoured an invitation by the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian Police on October 9 was detained till October 19 due to allegations of corruption – collecting subsidy funds without importing products – brought against his company by the Presidential Committee.

Ubah’s Capital Oil however absolved itself of any form of corrupt act, noting however that the Access Bank chief lacked the moral credibility to probe an industry in which he was also an operator with equity stakes in some of the oil importation firms, just as it alleged that Access Bank stood the greater chance of taking over its assets if its CEO, now auditing the industry, was left to have his way of barring the government from settling fuel subsidy debts owed the firm over a long period of time.

Such delay translates to the accumulation of more debts as the oil firm is inhibited from timely settlements of its debts to the bank and with more interest default payment fines coming, in the company could go bust, thus paving the way for a creditor to take over.

According to records initially released by Ubah’s aides, the company is owed about N14 billion in subsidy refund (otherwise known as Sovereign Debt Notes, SDN) while the monthly interest on the N21 billion loan secured through Coscharis is put at about N380 million “The allegations are spurious, they border on the absurd and merely intended to pull us down in order to achieve Aig-Imoukhuede’s dream of aiding his company – Access Bank – to frustrate our business activities and take over our company,” said the oil firm. It noted that the bank checked every stage of the importation process to satisfy itself that the importation was actually carried out.

In effect, the investigation that Mr Aig-Imoukhuede is currently carrying out on Capital Oil is an indirect investigation of his bank. “ Given the present circumstances, we strongly believe that it is most unethical and contrary to natural justice, equity and good conscience for Aig-Imoukhuede to continue to chair any committee charged with the responsibility of verifying the subsidy refund claims. “Because his bank is part and parcel of the whole transactions having financed them and, therefore, stands to benefit from any prolonged delay in the payment of the subsidy refunds to us.” But all these do not seem to impress Maduka.

According to him Aig-Imoukhuede’s character and integrity can never be faulted. He insists Ubah is just throwing so many things into the fray to confuse the public and divert attention from what the questions really are. He should tell us: where is the consignment for which he drew on the letter of credit? We have evidence to show that the consignment was shipped, we have the bill of lading, but there is no record to show that the products ever got to Nigeria. If they did, let him show us the documentation”, Maduka maintained.

The Coscharis boss said the claim that the bank processed and received the SDN for the missing four shipments is a different kettle of fish and does not prove that the shipment ever got in. He said that of the 10 Letters of Credit opened for Capital Oil, Ubah only partly delivered on the first six while the last four simply vanished. What that means is that, of the 377,400,033 litres of petrol paid for, only 197,093,412 litres was delivered. The rest which left their country of origin for Nigeria since September 2011 have yet to arrive. To this development, Maduka says: “we have comprehensive insurance for the consignment. If it sank with the ship or got burnt on the way, let him provide the details so we can file for claim with the insurance company.

It is even more understandable if the shipment came and they said the product was contaminated or substandard, or even got caught up in the exchange rate somersault and he, therefore, sold at a loss. I can understand all that. What I can’t understand is this idea of the entire consignment disappearing into thin air”. Producing document after document on the details of the transaction that allegedly saw him borrowing money for Capital Oil and how the entire transaction was properly structured from the onset, Maduka lamented: What this means is that I am losing N21 billion and somebody says I should keep quite! I will get my money, even if it is the last thing I do. I am ready to die doing just that”.

The United boss said: “All we needed to do was see the game out by keeping possession.

“But Nani decided to try and beat a player, lost the ball and they got a penalty kick.

“We gave the ball away for a third goal and we were in complete control of the game at that point.

“I don’t know whether it was a penalty or not but nevertheless I think the young players started to feel it and it was very difficult for us in extra time.”

Ferguson refused to condemn Nani, but the Portuguese winger will be well aware he missed a glorious chance to impress his manager.

The Scot added: “He’s an individual and he’s a player that wants to beat men so we’re not going to discourage him from that.

“But in that situation if he’d have kept the ball in the corner flag the game is over.”

One player who did earn Ferguson’s praise was two-goal Ryan Giggs, who played the entire game.

Ferguson said: “I think in Giggs we saw a player of absolutely unbelievable proportions in terms of playing the 120 minutes at 39 years of age next month.

“It’s a credit to himself but it’s also an example to every player on that pitch, including the Chelsea players.”
