The rising Nigerian pop-star and actress made global headlines for her recent statement, in which she offered her virginity to Islamist militant sect Boko Haram, in return for the 200+ school girls abducted in the Chibok area of Borno state in April.

“This is 11pm in the night and do you know what I am thinking about? Those little girls, where they are and what could be happening to them. It is just unfair. They are too young. I wish I could offer myself in exchange.

They are between 12 and 15 year old girls for Christ sake. I am older and more experienced. Even if 10 to12 men have to take me every night, I don’t care. Just release these girls and let them go back to their parents.” the 23-year-old told the Vanguard Newspaper.

Army Arrests Alleged Key Suspect in Chibok Girls’ Abduction

The Nigerian military has arrested a man whom they suspect to be one of the masterminds of the abduction of the over 200 Chibok school girls.

The Defence Headquarters released a statement yesterday announcing the arrest, according to Punch.

In the statement, the alleged mastermind is identified as Babuji Ya’ari, a business man who is also the leader of a youth vigilance group called “Civilian JTF.”

Contrary to earlier reports, the United States of America declared on Friday, 27 June, 2014, that it does not know the where-about of the 219 schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok, Borno State, northeastern Nigeria.

It could be recalled that no fewer 276 students of Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok, Borno State were abducted by members of Boko Haram on 14 April, 2014. Though some of the kidnapped schoolgirls reportedly managed to escape the insurgents after their abduction, 219 of them are still being held by the Islamists terror group.

Few days after the girls’ abduction, leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, said, in a video posted on the internet, that he would not release the schoolgirls except for an exchange of some of ‘his brethren’ captured by the Nigerian soldiers.
